What is RAKU?          

  Raku is a Wild, Whimsical and Magical process of firing clay.
   The potter, wearing thick gloves, quickly pulls a red hot, glowing pot from a kiln with tongs, then tosses the pot into a combustible bed of paper, leaves, sawdust, etc… where it instantly bursts into Flames, Smoke and Sparks! Then the potter covers the pot and smothers the fire, allowing the heat, oxygen and glazes to work their Magic.

Prices on raku pieces range from $15 to $150.
